    Starting to look like something!
    Definitely learned:
    LAY ALL TRACK FIRST!
    Then add details. Trying to spike (even every fifth tie I damaged, shook and otherwise made life for the LPs very difficult. But the track is all in and the first layer of ground is done. Now Ill go back and start adding some details and a touch of weathering, etc.

    thanks guys. This whole build has been such a great learning process for me. I may end up keeping this as a dio and not adding it to the layout but either way I’ve love it and definitely hooked on SWSM. Between the forum and Brett I can’t imagine a better way to learn how to build really exceptional kits!

    Ok,
    Finally done with EVERY casting!
    Some may need a little touch here and there but all casting are ready to go. Frankly, I'm not sure I can use all of them for the one scene but they're ready if needed.
    Now onto the line shaft and installation of the lathe and the hacksaw.
    Once again for any beginners (like me) out there
    I really thought my work on the castings would be disastrous but overall I'm very happy with the look achieved. Take your time and it all works.

    This is my first build of any kit in over 35 years. I started at zero so if I can do it anyone can!

    It's really coming together now.
    The belts on the hardware are trickier than I thought but love it in person.
    I'm gonna have to get a macro lens and get some really good close in shots.
    I think a week or two more and this is done! Definitely before Christmas.
