  • Wonderous Stories from the Yes album Going For the One, with the epic masterpiece, Awaken, among the three best of Yes' compositions.. And the drama generated by the Mighty Mellotrons in The Court of the Crimson King still raise my hair. ( I still got some !!)
  • Ed,

I am with you about having a fond spot in my heart for Dublin. Can't tell the other relatives because my grandparents came from Cork and my wife's family from Galway.
Her family still runs a store in Galway near the University, Ward's Store. My brother-in-law still has family in Tullamore and hires lads from there during the summers. My wife and I occasionally talk about activating dual citizenship because of our family heritage.

    Later Dave S. Tucson, AZ
  • dave,
i'm second generation irish too and am eligible for irish citizenship. intriguing, but nah. grandkids.
  • I was accidentally born in Galway.....so I do have dual citizenship.....
  • Hi, all of you Paddy's.... Hey Ed, the past week we had the Classic 1000 . Guess who was on number one... Led Zeppelin, Stairway to heaven. They always end in the top three. As do, Deep Purple, Child in Time, The Eagles , Hotel California, or Pink Floyd. It was a great musical week.

Today we have the Heavy 100 list. I am curious.. Grunt Grunt WWHHHOOOOEEEAAAAAAGGGHHHH My Favorite would be Opeth : The Baying of the Hounds.. Their three best albums are produced by Steven Wilson, you know, of Porcupine Tree. Another island band for me.

Anyways, today more work on the SW workbench since we're not allowed to make unnecessary displacements outside.

I saw Tony MacAlpine only one time, this is only Belgium you know...Small. He is one of my TOP guitarists . Are you familiar with his band Cab ? A more fusion/jazz orientated outfit. I got to know him in his neo-classical speed-metal period. And let's not forget John Petrucci from Dream Theatre. Got to go, discover the new Pendragon album...Love over Fear....

    Hear ya
  • I've been trying to get outside as much as possible (yard work) but the weathers not been cooperating between rain and cold......I actually spent 8 hours on and off yesterday in the shop.....
  • I'm still catching up to your Rolling Stones day. Downloaded digital versions of Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main St since I don't have a turntable anymore.
  • did you guys catch the stones on the world wide "concert" last night? they were great. mick still sounded like the mick of old. keith's harmonies were behind the beat, but it worked great.
  • Several years ago my wife wanted to see Little Richard at the local Casino Del Sol. I wasn't interested, but we went and I thoroughly enjoyed the concert. Lots of fun.
  • paul mccartney basically owes his career to little richard.
  • Yes, he's pure rock&roll
  • nary a lick....
  • To be honest, that wasn't my cup of tea. I never really got into that. Sure, there were good songs, but , well, you can't like 'em all.... I liked Killing Joke...
  • Now you're speaking my language Ed, and don't forget OMD, cannot mention Joy Division w/o mentioning OMD...
  • oh, lots of love for Depeche Mode too...

Looks like we Brits led the genre back in those days. I'm with Robert, yeah I knew (and liked) most of their stuff that got popular, the rest kinda passed me by. But hey, I know the hits, dunno who sang um but I know the words...
It sure was a revolutionary musical time... that spawned electronc, among others.
Those danged synths... what happened to real music...(sarcasm)

Cant believe I missed the OMD reference, still have their "greatest hits CD" , but when its a long drive I have it on a 'stick' now to plug'n'play in those late hours... great way to pass an hour or so driving across Kansas at 2am
  • By by to The Green Manalishi... rip..

  • RIP Eddie Van Halen . Guitar hero brought a complete different guitar playing in the 70' with his band Van Halen. Not seen or heard since Jimi Hendrix. Running with the devil is etched in my brain forever. Sad day....
  • You can also listen to Judas Priest ' Painkiller album...
