Branch pencils for logs

While in the cashier's line at TJ Maxx/ HomeGoods store making a return, I noticed these pencils made from the branches of Tamarind trees. They would be four to six feet in diameter in HO and about 48 feet in length if not cut in half, and I think the bark looks pretty good. I remember using bird perches from Petsmart for logs for the pond on my Twin Mills dio.

$4.99 for a pack of ten, but since they are not grown in the US to my knowledge, and branch harvesting in Minnesota winters is never fun, this may be a good source.imageimage

  • Google "tamarind pencil" and you'll find a number of places to get these online.
  • I picked up two packs on my way home yesterday. Thanks Mike.
