I would like to go haven't been to a narrow gauge convention since 1991 when they had there 10 national. I had a build that I finished just before. I entered it in the contest and Won 2 in motive power ... that same year I won First place at the National O scale meet with my On3 Logging shay. Had a Good time at Both shows

I may go since I can fly for free. It might be too COVIDY so I probably won't decide until last minute. If I go I'll probably carry-on a SWSM small diorama. if Terry or Rick or anybody else is going post here or message us so we can get together.

For you guys that attend if you can spare some time away from the show, an afternoon trip up the mountain on US 321 to the town of Blowing Rock might be enjoyable…a small mountain town that’s very pleasant

Looked at the Venders list not that many Big name Kit manufactures will be there and the cost of Hotel and GAS prices so I'll just stay Home !

From what I last saw on the website....no covid restrictions at this time...though that could change.....as for the vendors...I have my reservations also.....time will tell....but I'm going to be there....

I’ve moved from Az to North Carolina and am registered for NNGC. I am not driving the 2 hours because of the lack of Covid precautions. Those of you not in favor of “proof of Covid shot” are one of the reasons I’m not going. There is no way to enforce reasonable social distancing, are even tho masks are “required” indoors we all know how loosely that enforcement can be. North Carolina is not in great shape Covid-wise and Western NC is generally worse than the rest of the state. Push back on the shot if you wish. Call masks “Fauci Face Condoms” (as one pretty famous modeler has done) but I take my health AND your health seriously. I planned on filling my Jeep with loot. Not now. I’ll continue to wait on Brett’s great kits and use PayPal to pick up supplies and odds and ends I may need.

The decision can only be with each person. I've had the virus...and my bone marrow is making sufficient antibodies (as per my PMD), I have been vaccinated. I am bring a mask with me....and will wear it if I feel the need. Most only wear a cotton mask. That won't prevent the virus from passing thru. It's the decision of each person if they want to go. I plan on attending.

Sorry, may get flack here but will never take a government non controlled drug. I'm over 70 and healthy without taking flue shots or anything. We are all different. Just drink more Tito's and you will be fine..lol

I work for FEMA...as an Urban Search And Rescue Specialist....I have no choice....I also got the polio vaccine by eating a sugar cube back in the 60's.....so....

Here is an example of why this forum is such a wonderful venue. Modeling is for the most part a solitary endeavor. Occasionally we venture out to a hobby shop or better yet a convention of some sort such as discussed here, and knock elbows with other modelers. Then back to our benches to work by ourselves until the next opportunity to venture out. The forum however, allows us the constant camaraderie of fellow modelers and a sense of belonging in a more consistent fashion than the "once a year get together". Geesh...then throw in a world wide pandemic and the value of a solid, quality forum such as this one comes to the fore front. I post and post pictures of my work here not for praise or well wishing, but for the wonderful conversation and group "chatter" that it may elicit. Despite there being no faces to reflect on, it feels like there's a room full of fellow modelers hanging out in my shop, drinking coffee, horsing around and talking modeling and whatever comes to mind. Without this connection to fellow modelers, the hobby would loose it's "zip" and the modeling mojo would slowly fade as it does occasionally anyway...but would be so much more difficult to get back without this group of wonderful, dedicated, motley group of scale modelers!

So regardless of your persuasions and beliefs, keep this forum as a place where that can be put aside and we can model here together, "face-to-face"...well you know what I mean...

Brett, I suppose it's a long winded way of saying thanks for all you have done and continue to do for the scale modeling community. Can't imagine modeling with the same enthusiasm and positive and exciting outlook without SierraWest Scale Models...

Sorry if my comments rubbed a few the wrong way.....I can totally agree also with Kens perspective.....this is a place we can and should avoid conflict and controversy....Like many other modelers here...I cherish this site and the information we all can benefit from...and also the friendship. I'll post photos here from the Convention for all to enjoy...
