George's Blue Sky Build

Just completed the Blue Sky Company which was an awesome build. Added the Mack Stubby Tow Truck bringing another tractor (Brett's model of course) and the TT along with other details hopefully captured in the pics. _GML2837

  • Very nice I built it a few years ago great work..........Carl.....
  • Great job. You've got a lot going on in this dio.
  • Fantastic modelling love your work.
  • Outstanding work here George! The vehicles and LPs certainly bring things to life. Wonderful scene composition and detailing. Well done my friend.
  • awesome build! and your lp's are awesome as well. where did you find them?
  • As pointed out by Ken, great to see the new SWSM printed trucks starting to show up in builds. As Kevin said, the lp's make it all come alive. Nice build all around.

  • Nice work! A real beehive of work going on!
  • Wow! Such perfection in building/modeling, and I agree with others on the value of the lp's as they add such realism.
  • Very nice! Lots to look at. Great variety of scenes. Love all the details.
  • Thank you all for your kind comments. I really appreciate it, especially coming from such a group of highly skilled modelers that you are. Kevin, the LP's (I think that means little people) come from ModelU, a company in the UK that, I think, makes the best LP's in our craft. They actually dress people up in period costumes, scan them in a body scanner and then 3D print the scan in a huge variety of different scales. The details are amazing on these people all of which come unpainted. And yes I added a lot of details as I wanted a lot to be going on at The Blue Sky Company. Dave, you are also correct in the vehicles. I love these trucks and enjoy adding them to the dio. They really add something, I think. Thanks again everyone. Most of what I've learned has come from Brett's tutorials and this forum, so your techniques, ideas, and pics have really helped me. Thank you.
  • George, Great work. I like the color of your buildings. You got a nice faded red. Randy
  • Really nice George! Everything works so well together and makes for a really complete scene. I agree with you about ModelU but they still have to be painted and you did a great job (not an easy task from personal experience) on those and the vehicles.
  • Thanks Randy and Travis. On the building I probably should have aged the brick some more but I also like the color. It turned out well so thanks. And Travis, after painting about 35 of these figures, I'm getting better at it, but you are correct. Painting these figures is not easy, especially when they come with so many details (ties, suspenders, belts, socks, vests) that it's tedious. But, as you know, you take your time, don't try to do it all in one sitting, and take a break when you get tired and they generally turn out pretty well. Thanks again guys, and Merry Christmas. Hope all of you and your families have a great Christmas and holiday season.
  • "But, as you know, you take your time, don't try to do it all in one sitting, and take a break when you get tired and they generally turn out pretty well." Good advice for modeling and other things in life. Merry Christmas to you and your family as well.
  • Really nice George so many little scenes and details to take in.
